Hi sisters!

Did you learn anything from the Titus study? I know I did! What are your thoughts regarding the Titus 2 woman? Paul surely had high hopes and expectations for the women in Crete. And rightfully so! However, these were just a few examples Paul mentioned, therefore, we should always use the whole Bible for instructions in righteous living.

Now that we've done the summary for Titus 2, let’s move on to Titus 3.

Paul continues with his instructions to Titus, telling Titus to remind the people at Crete to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work. To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers but gentle, shewing meekness unto all men.

Paul then reminds Titus, that they themselves were also foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lust and pleasure, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

In the above passage, Paul clearly tells Titus to "remind" the people at Crete to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates. I am reminded of this verse: Romans 13:1, "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God".

I suppose it should be easy to obey the authorities with this assurance that they were appointed by God Himself. I mean, how many times have you seen people criticizing and hating the government or president? The next time you hear a believer criticizing the government, just show them this verse.

Paul also makes a great point to Titus, reminding him that they themselves were also foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lust and pleasure, living in Malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

Wow! If you are like me, this would speak to you. I am constantly asking the Lord to renew the spirit within me, like David's prayer in the Bible, Psalm 51:10: "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." I mean, we should have this prayer in mind daily. Jesus taught us to deny ourselves and take up the cross and follow Him. Paul also mentioned in Romans, to live after the Spirit and not the flesh. It's obvious we have a sinful flesh and it is constantly in war against the Spirit. I know this struggle all too well. I usually strive to do the right thing but sometimes my emotions get in the way and I quickly allow the flesh to take over. You see that Paul then states, but after the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost: which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour. That be justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

You see, although we are undeserving of the love of God, it was given to us freely by the grace of God through His son Jesus Christ. Not according to our own good deeds but by His mercy he saved us by the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Ghost. I am reminded of this verse 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new". Therefore, through being reborn through Christ, our old selfish, lustful selves should also die as we live in the newness of the Spirit. We walk according to the Spirit because Christ now lives within us and our carnal desires are now left in the past. According to Ephesians 4:24, We intently put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Paul then continues with his advice to the leaders at Crete, to maintain good works and to avoid quarrels and foolish questions that bring contentions and striving. Paul wanted the leaders to focus on edifying the people rather than debates and arguments that bring division or are unprofitable to anyone.

And finally, he gives his closing remarks and salutation. Ending with a greeting to them and sending grace to them with a final Amen.

As this final summary closes, I Pray that we can all find it in our hearts to give grace and mercy to other believers. May our goal be always to edify and not condemn, may we be women that are respectful to others as well as ourselves. I pray for a renewed spirit and may our hearts be made pure before the eyes of God. I pray that through the confirmation of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, we are made a new creation and the old self is gone. We walk according to the spirit and not our carnal desires. I pray for those in authority, that their leadership skills be formed around the examples of the Bible. I pray that the Lord leads and guides them ad they lead. I pray for strength for their families with the right support and love given to them. I pray that we are given the spirit of obedience to the commandments of God as we go out and proclaim the good news to the nations. In Yeshua HaMashiach holy name. Amen

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
